Families that have high rates of chronic malnutrition are now growing these gorgeous vegetables to increase dietary diversity and increase food security. They cultivate vegetables using organic fertilizer and insecticides and water-conserving drip irrigation systems. Richard Greene, USAID Assistant Administrator/Bureau Food Security and his team are in Guatemala to observe the partnership between USAID and Guatemala to reduce poverty and chronic malnutrition in the Highlands where the rates are extremely high. In the photos, the USAID Washington team learns about home gardens that families of San Miguel Ixtahuacán, San Marcos grow. The home gardens are part of an integrated program to improve food security. The program is supported by USAID, ANACAFE and FUNCAFE and the municipality of San Miguel Ixtahuacán
