Families, want to know how to approach the next parent-teacher - TopicsExpress

Families, want to know how to approach the next parent-teacher conference? NPR has a few tips on how to make the most of your conversations (n.pr/1r3UoBZ). “Educators agree that doing your homework before a parent-teacher conference can make a big difference. . . . “Parents should leave knowing the resources that are available to them.” It’s hard to disagree with those statements. Yet doing your pre-conference homework anywhere in New York State should include studying up on the basic educational resources guaranteed to all students by state law. Parents shouldn’t just end a school visit “knowing the resources that are available to them,” they should be fully informed about the resources that schools must provide them and their children. Our Know Your Educational Rights handouts are a great place to start! Visit bit.ly/1kk36VO
