Family, Friends and Customers With a heavy heart and mind I am - TopicsExpress

Family, Friends and Customers With a heavy heart and mind I am announcing the closing of the Wexford Post Office Deli at the historic Harmony Shortline Building effective Saturday June 28th. This closing only effects the Deli division of the Post Office Catering Group. The Catering Division is OPEN, and business as usual going forward. The decision to close the Deli and not move forward with the development plans is very difficult. After praying about it and discussing the circumstances with family and friends, I believe it is the best decision for me, my family and the whole Post Office Catering Group and its customers. The decision will allow us to focus efforts on our corporate and special event catering operations, while developing Big Creek BBQ. Our friends and customers can rely on us providing great food and service that they have come to rely on. I want to thank Jim and Elaine Vogel, the deli keepers, for the past 20 years of dedication and hard work. Elaine remains the original employee that has been with me through thick and thin. Her passion for the deli and its customers cannot be matched. Jim’s efforts in delivery expanded our tradition outside our walls. His maintenance efforts made Wexford’s corner beautiful and something the community and our business could be proud of. I will miss seeing and talking with them every day. The Deli has been in the Historic Trolley Building for over 30 years. The Brooker Estate has been a wonderful Landlord and very supportive of all the deli efforts. Trudy Purvis, the executor of the estate, has been a blessing and a friend through our operation. It has been an honor to maintain this historic landmark. Don’t worry, the future of the building has been directed and protected. The Trolley Society, in Washington County, has begun the planning process to move the building in pieces to its final resting spot as a display at the location. It will join a remodeled Harmony Shortline Car that used to visit the building on the Line. Establishing the building as a monument at the society has always been the wish of the heirs of the estate. It will happen. We have developed many relationships with many community organizations, non-profits, churches and schools over the past 20 years. It has always been important for the deli to be involved and support our community. It has been an honor and privilege to serve Wexford and the surrounding communities. This concept will continue with the operation of the Post Office Catering Group. The decision to close the deli, also includes a decision to not move forward with the development of Wexford Corners and the new expanded deli location. Bottom line, for both business and personal reasons, I was unable to move forward on this redevelopment project. Special thanks to Pine Township (Board of Supervisors and employees) and the members of the Wexford Volunteer Fire Department for working with me and understanding the decision that was made. All the efforts and support has been greatly appreciated. Thank you our most valuable piece of the mix, our customers. Without you and your support there would be no history, no uniqueness, and no business. You have been the heart of this operation and the ultimate reason it survived 3 recessions, 4 road constructions, and a reorganization/separation of the catering operation. None of it was easy. You helped get us through it all. We hope and pray for your continued support in our catering and BBQ endeavors. Thank you for a wonderful 20 years! Paul Mitchell Owner/President
