Dreams Positive and Negative The first thing to keep in mind when dreaming of anyone that you know is that they are a type or shadow of your own life. They are not literally the person themselves! With this in mind, when you think about the family member you dreamed about, what are the first words that come to your mind? This will be the best indication of what they represent in your own life. Here are some fairly common interpretations for specific family members. Keep in mind that these illustrations are general and they may not all apply to you. Identify which ones suit you best. Father – Often a picture of Father God (See "Father" for more on this) Mother – Often a picture of the Church (See "Mother" for more on this) Spouse – Can be a picture of the Lord Jesus or of your own recreated spirit in Christ (See "Wife" and "Husband" for more) Older Sibling – Can be a picture of the Holy Spirit, depending on your relationship with them. Children – What was going on in your life when you had this child? Depending on the circumstances, they could represent different aspects of your ministry. They can also be a picture of your faith, hope and love. (See "Child" for more info) Cousin – Determine your relationship with that cousin. Do they represent your intellect or strong will? Grandparents – Can represent generational curses (if negative) or spiritual DNA that has been passed down (can be positive or negative) If your grandparents raised you, then they would have the same interpretations as "Mother" and "Father" Your Whole Family – This is a lovely picture of the Church as a whole. We are known as the family of Christ, so if you dream of all your family being in one place from both sides of your generations, then the Lord is speaking to you of His Church. Visions Positive and Negative If you see someone in a vision, then it relates to them literally. The circumstances in the vision will help you determine what should be done.
