Family, as far as I know Africans have been meat eaters as long as history records it. The Batwa, San and Khoi--the most ancient people in Africa certainly were, and so were Indigenous Australians and the people of the ancient Nile Valley that we love to talk about. I believe that the idea of vegetarianism comes from the recent American experience from people who could afford to be picky about what they eat. It does not come out of a historical African context. So I would prefer less self-righteousness from African-American sisters and brothers who like to preach the virtues of meatless diets. It comes across as very arrogant.
