Fan Mail? or what should I call this, still not comfortable - TopicsExpress

Fan Mail? or what should I call this, still not comfortable calling someone a Fan, I always believe were all in this together as music lovers :) anyway here it is, this was a few years ago.. So, Im not sure who will actually read this email, but I rarely feel compelled to write them to anyone...let alone a musician that I saw perform one time in a little dive bar in upstate New York...none the less, I saw you play pretty much on accident. What I mean is, I was driving along with my roommate, and we both just randomly decided to stop at this bar, and when we got the door, we were told who was playing, etc. etc. etc. So we went in, got a couple of drinks, and while my friend went to the bathroom to freshen up, I just stood there...and listened to you sing. Ive heard a lot of beautiful voices...Both famous, and not so much, and I like to think that after having attended dozens and dozens of live shows, performed by a fairly vast variety of musicians, when I hear something good, I know it, and when I hear something terrible and generic, I know it...Literally, the moment I heard your voice, I was mesmerized. Not in the creepy-omgiminlovewithyou kind of way...but in the way that I felt relief. I know that mainstream musicians are doing their thing right now and are hugely successful for whatever it is....but when I think about the music legends of today...not many come to mind. I can think of the musicians that will hopefully always be seen as legendary...Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, etc...and I always think...in 20 years are we going to be talking about how Lady Gaga or Britney Spears or Kesha and Lil Wayne and Justin Timberlake are legendary? I seriously hope not. In all honestly, in the least cheesy way I can think to phrase it...I hope were talking about guys like Otan Vargas in twenty years and how legendary their music it. (Ok, so maybe more than twenty years...how about fifty?) :) anyways, thanks for capturing the attention of a music skeptic. your voice is a gift---stay gold. I just want to say, I appreciate all of you guys, thank you for your kind and inspiring words, like what I always say, Without You I wouldnt be here :) Have a great day :D and send me Cocoa for Christmas! haha
