Fan Question : My almost 3 week-old is still working back to gain - TopicsExpress

Fan Question : My almost 3 week-old is still working back to gain his birth weight loss back. Firm directions from my midwives have me feeding him as long as he wants every -2-3 hours. And then pumping and feeding him as much as he will take. Ive been doing this a week now and we have a weigh in again in 2 days. We have discussed how he is a lazy eater it seems like. For the first week of his life he ate for a hour a time and would sleep 2-3 hours no problem. Now he will still spend a hour eating and I can easily pump 2-4oz out (minus first time pump of the day is been 6 last 2 days). So Im very sure I have the milk in there for him. How and what are some ways I can make him a more vigorous eater?! I have a 2 year old also all day so sitting feeding for 8 hours Is kind of hard when hes literally climbs all over me. I really want him to at least have gained the 10oz hr lost soon! We have a mild case of thrush as well that weve already been treating for 4 days. Hes not tongue tied. He also had mild jaundice that has seem to be gone now (was told that could make him more sleepy and less wanting to eat vigorously). Im willing to try just about anything to be able to breastfeed only with no pumping! Reposted by Jessica
