Fan Question: how does one get out of the mindset of teaching when they begin unschooling? I am going to start unschooling on Monday, I am giving my kids these next couple of days to turn in books and exchange phone numbers with their friends and things like that. but then what? do I just pull them out of school and let them go wile and do whatever they want? I know learning takes place every day, all day, but is that all there is to it? do you encourage your kids to do anything specific? I know that everyone needs to know how to read and write and communicate with others, but do I just let them figure it out on their own? if they want to learn something specific do I let them figure it out on their own or do I teach them what they want to know? for instance my son wants to learn geometry and algebra because he says he will need it when he is older for the job he wants to do, and he plans to go to college, do I let him learn it on his own? or do I teach him because its his choice to want to learn it? I know there is no right or wrong way to school or unschool and there will be lots of different opinions, and in the end I will do what I think is best, but being new to unschooling I would like to get feedback on what others do and how they do it and how they started out and got out of that whole way of thinking that you need to teach in order for them to learn. *Unschooling Momma*
