Fan Request KMK Good morning! My name is Nicole and I am a former Texas police officer. I am writing to you because I am teaching now at a College in Texas and am continuing the research I started with my Masters thesis - police officer suicide. My Masters thesis was published by the FBI back in 1996 and they are republishing the book and asking for updated research. As a dispatcher, you understand the unique dynamics of police officers, especially when talking about depression/suicide, and how important this issue is for the law enforcement community. My question for you: Information/statistics on police officer suicide is difficult, if not impossible, to gather. To update my paper for the FBI, I am looking for the number of police officer suicides in the years 2012, 2013 & 2014. I know you often post when police officers pass away - do you have any access to see if they committed suicide? Could you possibly help me contact departments across the country to gather statistics for this important study? I do NOT want any specific names or personal information. I would just need the state, gender and race of the officer who committed suicide. Thank you for your time.
