Fan Share: I belong to many mother/parent/baby pages on fb.What I am writing may not have anything to do with this group,but I wanted to share it in all my groups.I have lately seen many parents judgeing others for the use of child leashes.I have serval points why I personally use them and wanted to share them with you all.So maybe the next time you see a child on one you will not throw your judgement out on their parent. A little background.I have 3 children.My oldest is 8 years old he is a special needs child with pdd-nos , spd, & adhd.I have a 12 month old daughter who has no special needs,other then she loves all the attention.(lol) Then I have my 22 month old son (for whom I use a leash)he is special needs with devlopmental delays, non-verbal ,does not answer to his name ,and SPD. When I walk down the street with my children I always get stares for my son being on a leash.If you are one of the people looking ,trust me when I say your dirty looks don’t change my mind about the leash at all. I see comments on fb about child leashes and here are some points that seem to be brought up about them. •People who use a child leash are lazy. Im sorry but with three kids I don’t have time to be lazy.Altough I’d love to be its just not going to happen. •You should teach your child to not run off. Well the thing is right now im more worried about teaching my son to talk,and communicate.Thats a battle I can tackle when he’s a bit older. •Why cant you just hold your childs hand. Well my son has SPD (sensory prossesing disorder) he hates his hand or face touched.He likes to feel free and independent.Also if you reserch hand holding vs leash you will see how its not really good to hold your childs arm up like that.Think about it you goto the mall you hold your childs hand through it,Your in there for one hour.Exactly how do you think that child feels.You try holding your arm up for a hour and see how you feel.I bet it isnt pleasant. •A leash is an easy way out for a parent. Its far from a easy out more like a SAFTY TOOL.I want to be sure my son is safe every second.You say your child wont run out in the road.YES they will children get hit by cars everyday.THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO MINE.He will never have the chance to run out in the road. •People who put their child on a leash are treating their child like a dog. Ok well people put dogs on leshes to protect them.Are you not willing to protect your children? Dogs can be taught to not run out in the road are you to lazy to train your dog??? Anyway this is basicly what I had to say I have many more things I can say about child leashes but this is starting to get pretty long. Thank you for listening.STOP JUDGING OTHER PEOPLES PARENTING!
