Fanny Crosby, a great hymn writer of the 20th century, was talking to one of her neighbors, who complained bitterly about his poverty. If I had wealth I would be able to do just what I wish to do; and I would be able to make an appearance in the world. Fanny replied, Well, take the world, but give me Jesus. She was then inspired to write a hymn with that title. A modern songwriter took the same thought from an African-American spiritual and wrote this beautiful praise song, covered here by Jeremy Camp.
