Fantastic effort by Hannah Joye and Aliyah Johnson at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine. Hannah finished 7th overall in the High Jump, with a jump of 1.79m. The event was won by fellow Australian athlete Eleanor Patterson, with a jump of 1.88m. Aliyah finished a heartbreaking 4th in the Heptathlon, less than 40 points behind 3rd place. Her point score of 5547 is a personal best. Congratulations Aliyah. Other medallists include Queenslander Matt Denny who won GOLD in the Mens Discus with an enormous throw of 67.54m. Matt also received the BRONZE in the Hammer with 78.67m. And Mackenzie Little won GOLD in the Womens Javelin with 61.47m. Australia is sitting 2nd overall on the medal tally with 3 GOLD and 1 BRONZE medal. Congratulations to the team on their outstanding efforts!
