Fantastically Wrong: Why People Were Terrified of Nighttime Air Until the 1900s: wired/2014/08/fantastically-wrong-why-people-were-terrified-of-nighttime-air-until-the-1900s Did you know that Americans used to seal their homes tight to keep the toxic nighttime air out so they dont poison themselves in the early 1900s? Sounds pretty preposterous in 2014, right? Sure, because we have the wisdom of knowledge and experience that its just not true. Sound familiar? Could this be a parallel to the fear of saturated fat and cholesterol we deal with today? And like those of us who have been trumpeting the truth about these things while the belief is still there that harm will come from eating fat, there were dissenters about the nighttime air myth at the time. Ironically, sealing their home increased carbon dioxide levels in the home that was much more dangerous than the air outside. And peoples eyes were open. How close are we to people realizing what we are currently doing with our diet is much more unhealthy than simply embracing the real food-based saturated fat and cholesterol that was perfectly healthy for generations before we were scared half to death of these things in the Ancel Keysian era? Cant come quickly enough!
