Faqir Nur Muhammad memorized word-for-word most of Sultan Bahu’s treatises. He traveled far and wide in search of Sultan Bahu’s books and was able to obtain about forty of them with divine help. After the lapse of more than three centuries, Sultan Bahu’s books were lost and his teachings forgotten. In Faqir Nur Muhammad’s own words: “It appeared that the author had composed and bequeathed those books exclusively for me, because until now, none has either com- prehended or benefited from them like myself.” The spirit of Sultan Bahu became his mentor transcending space and time. He further stated, “Whatever spiritual state, stage, and esoteric phenomenon of the path I read and copied during the day, I traversed that particular stage that very night, and every written esoteric phenomenon became manifest to me. Therefore the mist of difficulty, misunderstanding, and mystery was lifted forever by the saint himself.” Faqir Nur Muhammad was the only one who truly understood the doctrine of Tasawwur-e-Isme-Dhat and the spiritual teachings of Hazrat Sultan Bahu. As a mat- ter of fact, the honor of acquainting the world with the spirituality and works of Hazrat Sultan Bahu rests entirely with Faqir Nur Muhammad. It was Faqir Nur Muhammad who for the first time presented the spiritual teachings of his Murshid in a simple, engaging, and understandable manner to Urdu-speaking readers in the subcontinent. -Hz Faqir Dr. Ahmed Javid Sarwari-Qadri (May Allah sanctify his secret)
