Farewell to Gerry Goffin, the ex-husband of musician Carole King. As a duo, Goffin and King wrote hit songs for such popular artists as The Crickets, The Drifters, The Monkees, The Shirelles, Little Eva, Tony Orlando, Ben E. King, Hermans Hermits, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, his ex-wife, Carole King, and The Byrds, among others. Mr. Goffin died on Thursday at his home in Los Angeles at age 75. No cause of death has been reported yet. His passing was announced by his wife, Michele, who survives him along with his five children, six grandchildren and one brother. Similar to the musical partnership of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, where John writes the music to Taupins lyrics, Goffin wrote lyrics to Carole Kings music. The music world has lost a great talent.
