Fargo VA Hosts Cardiovascular Health Fair Fargo, ND – The Department of Veterans Affairs will raise awareness of heart and vascular disease in Veterans at a Cardiovascular Health Fair on February 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the 3rd floor Auditorium, Fargo VA Medical Center, 2101 N. Elm St., Fargo, North Dakota. “We are proud to promote heart health and raise awareness of heart disease in Veterans and VA staff,” said Lavonne Liversage, FACHE, Director, Fargo VA Health Care System. “This event not only highlights our commitment to care for Veterans, but it’s also a great opportunity to share information about cardiovascular disease management and prevention in both men and women.” Activities will include healthy cooking demonstrations, information about tai chi and yoga classes, health screenings and CPR instruction. Information will be available on reducing cardiovascular risk factors including eating wisely, increasing physical activity, smoking cessation, stress reduction and sleep hygiene. Professionals will be available to provide information and talk with Veterans about self-managing chronic cardiovascular conditions, including diabetes, congestive heart failure and irregular heart rhythms. Blood pressure screening will be conducted. Many Veterans have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. This Health Fair will be an opportunity to provide them with life-saving information about their personal risks. The event will run in conjunction with a “VA Goes Red” health expo which focuses on heart disease in women Veterans.
