Faridoon Walizada Hello friends and family! buildingmarkets.org/ (the organization I work for) is currently participating in an 8-week Social Entrepreneurs Challenge launched by the Skoll Foundation and the Huffington Post through Crowdrise - an online crowd-funding tool that allows you to crowdrise/BuildingMarkets/fundraiser/afghanistanproject1 to causes that you care about AND crowdrise/fundraise-and-volunteer/the-team/BuildingMarkets to encourage your friends to join the party. I am writing to you because I need you to help us WIN! Let me tell you why... I work with a fantastic team of 26 people - all of whom are passionate about the work that they do. Thats pretty amazing. They are willing to pull long hours, and 6-day work weeks - because they care. So, what is it that were so passionate about? What you probably didnt know about Building Markets - is that we also work with local NGOs. We identify, train and work with organizations to help them strengthen their internal management capacity and programming, so that they can go on to run successful organizations, and contribute to a thriving, active civil society. And guess what, that creates jobs too! In an environment where funding opportunities are becoming increasingly scarce, its important to support the little organizations that are trying to make it to the big league. These organizations possess the ability to create lasting impact amongst their communities and beneficiaries, but are often impeded by a lack of basic training on subjects like donor reporting, compliance and financial management.
