Farmers in Queensland and New South Wales are struggling because of drought, often unable to generate enough income to repay their debts. Some banks have been calling in their loans, taking control of land that cannot sustain livestock. If the government were to reform the way in which money is created, they would enough funds to build the kind of water distribution infrastructure that would prevent drought-related problems like this. Theyd also have the funds to provide assistance to farmers instead of standing by as they become dispossessed, all without increasing tax rates or making spending cuts elsewhere.
