Farmers to be Paid to Reduce Runoff Into Lake Erie - An algae bloom clogging the Toledo water intake crib caused a drinking water outage last year, and now federal officials have put together a plan to enlist farmers to reduce the fertilizer pollution that runs into the lake from farms.
