Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and youre a thousand miles from the corn field Said one farmer. This is very very true! From my little experience, farming can be hell! Farming is the only career i ve come across were hard work doesnt necessarily pay. You can plow 10hectares of land and plant your maize, only to have other factors come into play! Fot instance low rain fall, too cold, locusts, armyworms, even our own people who dont give much thought to the challenges of agriculture. Many people are pretty complacent about where their food comes from! One day i took my wife in the field coz she wanted cucumbers, when i showed her the plants, she was surprised cause she thought they grew underground like Kandolo! lol. So these are some of the things a farmer has to go through. To make matters worse, marketing is another very big challenge, in mind is one of our members who has done a 100 000 heads of cabbage. where is the best market for all that? The defense forces, how do you get an order?! Lucky ones get them. He has to start thinking of where to offload that lot in the next two months or else the third month will be too late.
