Fascinating and bizarre moment playing out on the House floor now. A Jewish legislator made a motion to adjourn the House so he can get home to his family by sundown for the holy day of Rosh Hashanah because the majority party did not finish by agreed-to ending time of 2:00 PM, even though we agreed to come in an hour early this morning. House Majority Leader Mike Turzai amazingly opposed the motion and asked his Republican colleagues to do the same, even going so far as to quote sundown times he had pulled off the internet. My Jewish colleague graciously agreed to withdraw his motion to expedite the process, but Im shocked by the total lack of sensitivity for religious tolerance of my fellow legislators.
