Fascinating discussion with my middle offspring--the relationship between Holy Days of Obligation (of going to Mass) and the sin (yes!) of Excessive Scrupulosity .... the family curse. (Excessive Scrupulosity is where you have an inordinate fear of sinning, particularly in minor matters.... while missing the elephant in the living room, i.e., your MAJOR sin.) (Excessive Scrupulosity is the sin of choice of those with OCD.) He insists on going this week to Mass anyway.... nothing to do but accommodate him!
