Fat Loss Tip #2 - Green Tea Green tea is not only a powerful antioxidant but should be included in any fat loss program. Green tea can lead to a reduction waist size and fat mass. What makes green tea so special is the extract epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study investigating the physiological effects of green tea extract in humans. It was found that green tea extract significantly enhanced the rate at which individuals metabolised fat. It also increased the percentage of energy generated through the metabolism of fat by 17 per cent (the amount of energy derived from carbohydrate tell by the same amount). Insulin secretion was significantly lowered by green tea extract. This seems to have been related to improved ‘insulin sensitivity’.
