Fat Pooh Bear Cat is Sick and Needs Your Help! Pooh Bear was abandoned in a box in the lobby of New York Citys Animal Care and Control, a fat, happy cat who immediately won the hearts of the shelters volunteers. When he went on the at risk list a couple of days ago, staff and volunteers pled with rescuers to save him. But Pooh Bear had picked up the virus that is endemic in the shelter. He was so sick that he went straight from the ACC to Riverdale Veterinary Group, where he was placed in the isolation ward. He is not eating, so he will need a feeding tube and hospitalization for several days.The estimate for his care is $980. Even though he is feeling lousy and has to drag his IV with him, Pooh Bear still lumbers to the front of the cage to greet visitors with a loud, congested purr.
