Fataawa of the Noble Shaykh Rabee al Madkhalee, hafidhuhullaah taala: The Book of Knowledge The Saying and Deed of the Companion and Tabiee Question: Is the saying of the imams and scholars of the salaf - rahimahumullaah taala - from the first three generations a proof which is referred to? Answer: If there stood consensus in the words of the imams of the salaf of the first three favored generations (Salaf us Salih) then they are taken as proof, whether they agreed in beliefs and acts of worships and dealings (then they are proofs) from the foundations of Ahl us Sunnah, the Book and the Sunnah and the consensus.
