Fatal Traffic Collision at Garfield Avenue and Edwards Street: Today, at about 11:15 AM, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to the area of Garfield Avenue and Edwards Street regarding an injury traffic collision involving three vehicles. Arriving officers located a green 1998 Ford F-150, a silver 2010 BMW X6, and a black 1980 Datsun 280ZX, all with significant collision damage, near the intersection. Two males, both believed to be occupants of the green Ford, were ejected from the vehicle and found in the roadway. One of the males, a 19 year old Huntington Beach resident, is believed to be the driver of the green Ford. He had serious injuries but was able to speak to officers. The other male, a 26 year old Huntington Beach resident, was believed to be a passenger in the green Ford. He had critical injuries and was tended to by citizens until medical assistance arrived. The driver and sole occupant of the silver BMW, was able to get out of his vehicle and appeared to have moderate injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the black Datsun, was uninjured. Huntington Beach Fire Department paramedics responded to render aid to the injured subjects. All three subjects were transported to UCI Medical Center for treatment. The injured male believed to be the passenger in the green Ford was admitted to UCI Medical Center in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His name is not being released at this time so next of kin can be notified. The suspected driver of the green Ford and the driver of the silver BMW were admitted and are in stable condition. Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the green Ford F-150 was traveling west on Garfield when it entered the intersection of Edwards and collided with the silver BMW X6 which was traveling south on Edwards. At least one of these two vehicles collided with the black Datsun 280ZX which was traveling east on Garfield. The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the HBPD Major Incident Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T). No citations have been issued and no arrests have been made at this time. Investigators would like to speak to anyone who might have seen the events leading up to and including the collision.
