Fatal crash - Port Macquarie An elderly man has died in a collision at Port Macquarie yesterday. About 3.10pm (Friday 20 June), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near the intersection of Hastings River Drive after reports of a two-car crash. Police have been told a Ford Falcon driving north and a Mistubishi Pajero driving south collided in the southbound lanes. The driver of the Ford, a 77-year-old man from South West Rocks, died at the scene. The 70-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi and his 59-year-old female passenger sustained non life-threatening injuries and were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment. Investigations are underway into the cause of the crash and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner. The incident resulted in moderate traffic disruptions on the highway which have since cleared.
