Fatal last words, If I just work overtime for 6 months, Ill be all caught up. If I just work hard, ignore everything else, and check this off my list, Ill have more time. Sounds honorable, but something seemingly more important is often looming right behind your task and the win doesnt usually transpire the way you had hoped. Investing your time and energy into the big hits doesnt generally work. Think of losing weight. If you lose too much, too quickly, you often put it right back on. Developing an Action Plan is essential, and having the discipline to accomplish it is vital, but more important is a consistent, balanced effort which sustains you to the finish line and beyond. Check the big hits off your list and start working towards realistic, long term, healthy success!
