Fault and blame seem to be companions to guilt in this journey we call the grief of child loss. When a child dies we immediately want to blame someone -- find a reason why it happened and make certain we let others know. We also go through periods of self-blame. If only I had known. If only I had stayed one minute longer. If only I hadnt left her side. And, on and on it goes. The truth is at the end of the day -- even when pointing out fault, blame, and guilt -- our child is still gone and we carry a heartache that is the worst known to humankind.
