Featherdown lets continue our support by coming to the Manor Tavern this Thursday night. Through a partnership with Baltimore County, and the Baltimore County Farm Bureau, MARC is launching a capital campaign to raise $500,000 to build a 30,000 square foot multi-purpose, indoor agricultural arena at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park in Cockeysville. The official campaign kick-off event will be held at Manor Tavern in Monkton on Thursday, July 17 beginning at 6:30pm. Manor Tavern Address 15819 Old York Road Monkton MD , 21111 A short presentation about the project will be given by MARC President, Richard Dick Watson followed by a Q&A session. In addition, the suite of giving levels will be unveiled as well as the opportunity to get involved right away through a silent auction. WHY IS MARC BUILDING AN INDOOR ARENA? Most agricultural professionals jumped on their first horse or tractor as children. They grew up on the land and followed in their family footsteps. But that tradition is fading. If you have never been on a farm – it is hard to choose farming as a profession. That’s what makes the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park so special and the need to expand the Farm Parks facilities to include a multi-purpose indoor agricultural arena so important. If Maryland is America in miniature – the Farm Park is agriculture in miniature. Where else in Maryland can you find conventional next to organic farming next to experimental farming next to apiculture next to livestock next to conservation farming next to historic farm buildings with education, agri-tainment, and even the arts all co-existing together. The addition of the arena will allow MARC and the other agencies and organizations housed within the Ag-Center to expand their agricultural programs which are designed to build next generation farmers, stimulate innovation and investment, and create a citizenry that understands the importance of agriculture to the state. EQUINE FRIENDS- WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! This facility will be able to be leased for our horse events. There will also be an outdoor ring and parking. This will give us a NEW and conveniently located venue for our horse activities! So please come and join us. We will have a small silent auction. Hope to see you there.
