Featured below is a poem centered around what was supposed to be a Valentines Day love poem, but ended up taking a completely different context as I continued writing. I started focusing on writing about a love that quite often, more people have experienced. This is a broken love, where the demons of ones past still linger, but are healed by the soul and warmth of another being. Someone who understands and someone who believes in you. The end of the poem portrays love as a true emotion. When all is said and done and time is at a stand still in a relationship, just remember, an honest love is a powerful emotion, it cannot be sold, and there will always - no matter what - be a story to tell. Unbroken by Emily Stead As we lay in the silence of the crisp, summer air, I’m reminded of memories; our success as a pair, Where once, just as strangers, we glanced with confusion, At the scars of each other, like a detailed illusion. Minutes of silence in your awkward existence, Brought solace and warmth - love has no resistance, We bonded with strength and the painful goodbyes, That fueled our demons and haunted new lives. Intensified moments brought smiles and lust, Decreed by the darkness, you engaged in my trust, The ghosts of tomorrow and the past of today, Conjured your love in my blooming bouquet. They claim the days linger, when the darkness opposes, But standing with you, hands flowing with roses, Life is but fleeting, in the chamber of heartbeats, When our souls join together, our love plays on repeat. When remnants of time crush to dust and expire, When all that is left is the lust and desire, When love is a shadow of the story untold, Remember that love is an emotion unsold.
