February Shining Stars: Congrats to Matthew, City of Egegik, Marcia, Lena, Tess & Andrew Nominee name: Matthew Stark Nominee village: Chignik Lake Why: Matthew is always helpful when someone is having trouble with instructional technology. He also works hard to lead a quality online reading class for our Level 6 students. He challenges the students while providing excellent support by maintaining clear communication with students and their on-site teachers. Nominee name: City of Egegik Nominee village: Egegik Why: Special Thanks to the Village of Egegik for making the North/South Basketball Jamboree so enjoyable and memorable. Not only were students, staff, and coaches given long sleeve shirts, nalgenes, and snacks, but we were welcomed with smiles and well taken care of in every aspect of our stay. Nominee name: Marcia Abalama Nominee village: Egegik Why: Marcia volunteered many hours to making the North/South Basketball jamboree a success by helping out with providing meals. Thank you, Marcia for helping to make our visit to Egegik so great! Nominee name: Lena Gravelle Nominee village: Egegik Why: Lena is not only incredibly generous, but she is a very friendly face when arriving in Egegik. Her warm welcome to the village and contributions to the school cannot go unnoticed. Thank you Lena for being you! Nominee name: Matthew Stark Nominee village: Chignik Lake Why: Mr. Stark has always provided the school district, families, students, and villages with live feed of our sporting events. He works hard and overtime to get things done, and to do it correctly. I appreciate Mr. Starks willingness to make those who cant attend our events feel more a part of them by setting up and running the live sports feed. Keep on keepin on Mr. Stark! Nominee name: Tess Hostetter Nominee village: Igiugig Why: Tess is an asset to the iLEAD program and really stepped up during our most recent Elementary lesson in Egegik. Its not easy teaching youngsters and keeping their attention, yet she was wonderful to get them engaged and make them feel welcome to answer questions. She made them smile and this is one of Tess best leadership traits to have a sense of humor and smile! Thank you, Tess for being a leader among your peers. Nominee name: Trule Erickson Nominee village: Port Alsworth Why: Trule wore a smile during the jamboree while playing Basketball in Egegik, but she also wore a smile while volunteering to do dishes and help clean. Her willingness to lend a hand and go the extra mile is admirable and greatly appreciated! You are awesome Trule! Nominee name: Andrew Johnson Nominee village: Egegik Why: Mr. Johnsons contribution to the North/South Basketball Jamboree in Egegik was above and beyond his call of duty. He helped make the jamboree a success by planning in advance, reffing games, keeping everyone in the know about events and happenings, as well as what was going on with the schedule and much, much more. Without Mr. Johnson, the Jamboree would not have been as successful as it was. Thank you Mr. J!
