Fecal transplant for severe allergies? Why am I talking about poop - TopicsExpress

Fecal transplant for severe allergies? Why am I talking about poop again?? One of my adorable patients Who is four years old came in to see me. He has multiple food allergies and allergies all the major foods including wheat milk soy eggs corn. He has terrible eczema and has had many courses of steroids. He has inhalant allergies has trouble around all the usual things that nonallergic people have no trouble dealing with such as pets carpet etc. His father and I were talking about the future and I mentioned that in Europe and Australia people who done investigations about fecal transplant for allergy and other digestive diseases. Not only had he heard of it but he also had a doctor friend who told him about it. Here in the US theres a lot of folklore around decal transplant. The conversation led to me calling his friend who is a physician, who contemplated doing fecal transplant for his son who has ulcerative colitis. My question is has anyone done this? Is anyone heard of anyone doing this? There were clinical trials being done for C. difficile diarrhea which were successful, but for any other disease state Ive not yet heard of any clinical trials by the FDA or otherwise.
