Feddie news: The vet (a new one to me) said its an allergic reaction. One of two (and he showed me pix in books and they look like her tummy). Its either an allergy thats developed to her food, or an allergic reaction to something in the environment. There are 3 possible cures. One is cortisone, in pill form, which he said, if its a food allergy, it will clear up in a couple of days. The next is a de-sensitizing treatment that is a lifetime process. The third is to change her food and by 8 weeks that should clear up the reaction if it IS from the food. So I opted for the 3rd because Im away and dont want to stick my house guest with having to give pills, and also because I always prefer the least invasive first. So I have a dry food that cats dont react to and Im to gradually between tonight and Wed before I go introduce this by mixing it with her food. After Im gone, my friend will feed her just this, 3 times a day. She wont like it, shes used to wet food with a little dry, not just dry, period. Also, if she reacts to it in any way, hell have to be aware of that and stop the food and call the vet. Sigh. I took a sample of her daily BM and they will test for worms but he said he didnt see any sign of that and the tiny worm-like creature I saw on chair could have come from the newspaper, which sits outside where things have crawled onto and between the folds before, so he said that didnt seem like it came from her and she hadnt been sitting on that chair but she did sit on the paper on the floor for a bit early that morning where she sits by my bed and tries various maneuvers to get me up until she succeeds. Anyway, Im relieved that its just this and not something worse. The vet bill was $140. plus 2 taxi rides so thats $160, a lot less than Ive paid many other times. But, gosh...
