Federal Government must come clean on the discrepancy in Low Income Household Statistics The federal government must quickly clarify the big discrepancy in statistics released in Parliament yesterday. Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar claimed that only 28.7% or 2 million of Malaysian households earn less than RM3000 a month. This is in stark contrast with previous information released, particularly in stating that BR1M (Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia), has benefitted 4.8million households in Malaysia as stated on Prime Ministers Office website. Barisan Nasional has to come clean. Either there has been massive abuse with the BR1M payments, or the minister has misled the parliament yesterday, which is true? The collection and reporting of these statistics is extremely important to make wise policy decisions for the country. how the government deals with economic incentives and programs for the poor has to be based on crucial statistics like this data. Malaysia must not live in denial that there are only 2million households that earn less than RM3000 a month if the data from BR1M handouts is anywhere near the truth.
