Feedback from public meeting with Sembcorp, Ilembe Mayor, Umgeni water. The good news - NONE Reality check.... At current usage, the end of water in your pipes will be end of Jan or Feb if no rain in the catchment area of Greytown area. Expect major changes coming to force people to conserve water. They have been fining people and need more community involvement to find water abusers. They cant make more dam water or pipe it in from any where else. When it runs out it is tankers at best. So as a community, its in our collective benefit to reduce water consumption everywhere, or we will all be staring at open taps next year with no water running out of them. BTW they expect the water consumption to double in the holiday period so that timeline may come forward. Thanks to Sembcorp, Ilembe mayor and umgeni for interacting openly with the people who attended. PS only about 30 people other than representatives of those companies and local councillors and local focus group representatives.
