Feeds can be classified into the following groups Succulent –Where principal constraint is water. Roughages-these feeds are characterized by their high crude fiber content. Concentrates-the main characteristics of all concentrate feeds is that they contain relatively large quantities of a food constituent..Examples of animal origin concentrates are meat meal, bone meal, fish meal, blood meal, ,skim milk powder. Those of plant origin are groundnut, soya bean, sesame , palm kernel, cotton seed cake. There are also energy rich concentrates of plant origin. They include rice, maize, sorghum, millet and cassava. Other feeds-some feeds can not easily be classified in any of the three major groups. Included are the new types of feed that are manufactured from inorganic or organic materials e.g. cane molasses, wet brewers grain.
