Feel free to share with your other groups! FREE TRIP!!!!--Buffalo River 2014 (Contact Dave Lindo cell 405 830 9689) updated 9/6/14 No glass jars, bottles, etc. allowed. Also it is required that you bring a mesh (not plastic) bag for your trash. National Park issues Big Fines for Violations!!! Bring a spare key to your car for shuttle driver. You check in for the shuttle at the beginning of the trip, leave a spare key, drive to put in where they pick your car up and take to the takeout on the morning of the last day. OKC Kayak and Tulsa Kayak (411 S. 1st Street in Jenks) Paddlesport Superstores are hosting a free trip to the Buffalo National Scenic River in N. Arkansas. Anyone is welcome! (Read entire email to find out little known and incriminating info about Ryan Jones!) National Scenic River means awesome scenery (pretty water, sheer bluffs, rock formations, and bald eagles on the Buffalo), no dams, no houses, no development. This place is always voted one of the ten prettiest rivers in the entire country. This is a chance to meet and paddle with amazing people that enjoy nature and the outdoors. You need not know a soul to attend, and will feel quite welcome, making many new friends. Here are the details: -unguided, but we can coordinate amongst ourselves to figure out some carpools, shuttling etc., community dinners, etc. -unlike most of our other trips, this is not a turnkey event. You find your way to and from, hire or arrange a shuttle, provide your own meals, etc. -We are happy to help suggest a trip packing list, but are not providing any gear (although if you dont own one, we do have kayaks you can rent if you prearrange before the trip -$35 per day = $140) -Camping is primitive on the banks of the river, and it wont be possible for folks that need to sleep in a bed to meet us, as even we never really know where we will be stopping for the night -Primitive means girls use the upstream bank and the little boys room is behind the tree on the downstream side -You will have to bring or easierto do, filter your own drinking water and cooking water (We sell these.) -You decide what you are eating and drinking -You are responsible for your own safety (Class II River, which is suitable for most at normal water levels). Paddling days average about 6 hours in the kayak with breaks throughout the day. -Some will carpool caravan from Oklahoma City Community College at 7 am sharp OR TULSA KAYAK PADDLESPORT SUPERSTORE AT 8:30 AM, on Thursday, October 23 and return approximately 8 pm on Sunday, October 26. Or, meet us as Wild Bills in Yellville, AR by not later than 3 p.m. on Thursday. (Ask anyone if they have ever seen us wait for late people :) It won’t happen!) -Wild Bills can run your shuttle for a fee, leaving your car at the takeout on the last day. Do prearrange your shuttle and be ready to start paddling at the meet-up time, as the takeout is a very long ways away. We will start at Ships Ferry where HWY 14 crosses the river and takeout about 8 miles after the confluence with the white river at Ships Ferry. -We often get asked about fishing, and it is a good river for small mouth, but we go to paddle, covering a big distance each day. Fishing tends to work best at rest stops, lunch, and campgrounds, so as to not get left behind by the group. -Will I go home sore?- Yes, but mainly your side will be hurting from all the deep belly laughs and good times.) -Should my infants and toddlers go? Probably not. This trip is really best for folks 10 and up. -Can my pet go? If your pet is a Burmese python, I would suggest leaving FLUFFY behind. We get the occasional well behaved dog on the trip. Check with your carpool mates before bringing your Great Dane! -Arent kayakers a bunch of hippy dippy dudes that sit around smoking weed and eating granol a? What Ryan does on his own time is up to him (joking!!!), but this is not a trip for hard core partiers. I am sure a drink or two will be had by many after the paddling is done for the day, but the only rude, crude, and socially unacceptable behavior will involve the staff from OKC Kayak and Tulsa Kayak. -Do I need to have kayaking or camping experience? Nope, but we will make fun of you when you bring the giant aero-bed and diesel generator. -Pack as much as you want, but it all has to fit in your boat. I probably missed a bunch of important stuff, but who cares. This sucker is an unguided trip amongst friends. If you are reading this, you are our friend. Now loan us some money. Hey we are kayakers! What did you expect? Questions, call OKC Kayak 405 two three KAYAK is our number, or Tulsa Kayak 918 two 98-4577. I thank you for your support of both shops!
