Feel very... dunno. About ten days ago we took an emergency hound at last minutes notice. It was a massive pain in the arse and took a bit of juggling. We couldnt NOT have taken him, knowing the dog didnt have many options. Looking back Im glad we did. We got a 6 year old dog with rotten teeth, infected gums, eye ulcers, extremely malnourished, full of worms... and a dog who had an undeniable wobble. The first few days I put it down to exhaustion and weakness. Then I started to watch and worry. Turning circles or changing from laying to walking caused the dog to topple over. The Taipan was sure it was an ear infection. I said nothing because I felt I knew what it was. So we get the verdict tonight from the vet. We are glad we grabbed this dog. He is not in any pain at all from the whack he got that caused his skull to fracture and his cerebellum to become damaged resulting in a lack of motor control. Hes still frightened and uneasy coupled with pain from his mouth but surgery will fix that up. The rest is time and we can give Wobble Dog all of that in spades. Each day, hes warming to us more and more. He will be rehomed with a long and happy life ahead of him. Rest assured that I pushed the vet to tell me to put him down. I was ready to lift him on the table and stroke his little face. I was equally assured there was absolutely no need for that at all. He was just a bit... clumsy now. For us and his new parents, whoever they will be, all this means is that he sleeps on the floor, he has no stairs in his home and routines must move more slowly, less rushed for the Wobbly One. Thats ok. Weve got time.
