Feeling Irritated with the Liberian Government! I am yet to - TopicsExpress

Feeling Irritated with the Liberian Government! I am yet to fathom over governments decision to further reduce its work force especially in the face of this deadly Ebola virus where the economy is in shambles for everyone and every sector. Put clearly, I DO NOT AGREE TO ANY PLAN TO LAYOFF ANY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE UNDER THE PRETEXT OF BAD ECONOMIC CONDITIONS WHETHER ESSENTIAL OR NON-ESSENTIAL. It sounds very ludicrous for a government that is supposed to be creating employment opportunities and a conducive environment for employment to be leading a mass dismissal campaign. Whether the package is encouraging or not, the question is: Why now? Here are my recommendations to remedy this decision: 1. That government will reduce all salaries and allowances of senior government officials who earn above 500 United States Dollars 2. That the government will use proceeds cut from these officials towards the fight against the deadly Ebola virus. 3. That after the Ebola crisis, government must craft strong policies to build a strong private sector. This way, I believe some government employees will gradually seek employment opportunities in the private sector. 4. That government should immediately stop all attempts to downsize its employees especially those trained with government money to contribute to the countrys rebuilding process as in the case of the GAC, Finance, GSA and other entities. 5. That under such Ebola time and State of Emergency, government must focus more on strategies in collaborating with its international partners to kicking Ebola out of the country instead of diverting attention from the Ebola situation as in the case of its current plan to massively downsize government employees. I am strongly convinced that if these recommendations are taken into consideration, Liberians will be empowered and ready to contribute to the countrys rebuilding agenda. Lets all stand to help our government make sound decisions! Your contributions are appreciated, my good friends!
