Feeling for my cousin, an industrious small businessman, dedicated - TopicsExpress

Feeling for my cousin, an industrious small businessman, dedicated father, and corporate employee who finds time for hobbies like gardening, cooking and despite shift work, playing with his six-year-old. He was stopped in his vehicle by police claiming he matched a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) description. He was driving his Ford F150 in the town where he grew up and continues to work. He is younger than me, we are close because his older brothers who were my contemporaries are all gone. My cousin is frustrated tonight. As a productive citizen approaching his fifth decade, he could not speak out about his rights and faced the sad realities of moving slowly and deliberately to keep from making an armed police officer nervous. I will tell you, my cousin is pissed and so am I. As a teen, I thought I would outgrow that suspicious until totally ruled out treatment. It continued from my 20s through my 50s and now even after 60, I cannot assume it will not happen still. Weapon in the console, ammunition in the trunk, even a briefcase on the front passenger seat. The reality remains, window down, hands locked on steering wheel at ten and two, and hope some idiot does not have a moment until you can safely drive away.
