Feeling in the mood for a Black Friday Heart warmer so here we go... June 11th, 2014 we received a message that a gorgeous orange cat named Murphy had slipped out of the house. The family was desperately searching and doing all the things we have learned to bring a kitty back home. A couple weeks later they had to leave for a preplanned trip that would keep them from home for a few weeks. Heart sick and scared they traveled to their destination in hopes that someone would notice the Facebook posts and take him to safety. The garage door was left up and food out for him. FLSF volunteers were out walking and/or driving the area looking for this gorgeous guy. No luck. Upon their arrival back home traps were set. New fliers were put out and hopes were still high. School started and the family continued to look but thought they may need to let go someday. Not yet, not at all. The colder weather set in. Sadly they had to believe that Murphy was alone and in the cold. Well, he was in the cold but not alone. He had found his way into a garage where a very kind woman recognized him from all the pleas for help. She took the time to look back for the posts and call his owner. Upon her arrival, the owner was stunned. Yes, it was him. Maybe. Yes, it looks like him but so thin. He is just so thin. The microchip! He was brought to the stray facility for a quick scan of his chip to confirm that Murphy was in deed this cat. YES, he is back home! November 19th...back home. Five months and 8 days later Murphy is back with his parents, kids and pup friends.
