Feeling sad and helpless in regards to the influx of immigrant children being detained in deplorable conditions at border crossings. Regardless of what side of the political spectrum you fall on, if youre a friend of mine you care about what happens to children whether they are here legally or not. Im tired of this being a political discussion. Its a humanitarian crisis and these kids (some toddlers) need help and its time people come together as humans to do just that: help. And help doesnt always have to come in the form of material charity. I truly believe that just being aware of the situation and informed can change the consciousness of society and make change happen! Anyway, Ill climb off my FB soapbox now and give my kids a bath and put them to bed and be grateful that we as a family arent sleeping on a concrete floor tonight like so many others.
