Feeling very depressed today about the state of our wildlife and their future! Especially after a programme I value highly and appreciate their investigative journalism could broadcast such a biased view on the conservation of our Rhinos with Rhino Horn Infusion! This is my response to them: Gosh I am so very disappointed with Carte Blanches completely biased show on Rhino Infusion! This is not investigative journalism but taking sides with the pro-traders! Besides Lorinda insisting that so few rhinos have been poached since the infusion took place! Well done Carte Blanche! You have basically now given Carte Blanche to the poachers to kill at will! You have signed our rhinos death warrant! Congratulations! What hope do we have for our wildlife when you selling to the public the concept of selling our rhino horns for trade? Derek Watts visiting a farm where horns are removed and stockpiled and approving of this? Is it natural for a rhino to have their horn removed? What will happen to the horns Derek? Do you honestly have faith in human kind not to be greedy and that the horns will not be sold to the highest bidder? What will happen when South Africa is trading in Rhino horn and fuelling the demand in the East? Do you think our current rhinos being bred just for this sole purpose will be able to sustain the demand? Or will suddenly poaching rise beyond control! It is not controlled now how will trading rhino horn ensure it is controlled in the future? And what about all the money that Edna Molewa has received from Dutch and Swedish lotteries 232 million rands to protect rhinos? Where has that money gone? What about the grant of over USD 20 million from Warren Buffet? All we see is money being donated into South Africa to help our wildlife but see no action from it! Except from selling the rhinos from KNP to private hunting farms and farmers breeding and stockpiling that Derek Watts so graciously visited and supporting, there is no trace of this money! Lorinda clearly said that they have had 7 losses from 276 rhinos in 4 years! To me that sounds like great stats and conservancy as opposed to over 700 rhinos already poached this year alone and its only September! Perhaps Carte Blanche should review their position and stance and show a more unbiased view and all the parts of the show that were edited! Big shame on you! Very sorry extremely disappointed!
