Feeling very sore this morning. I got wiped out by another rider - TopicsExpress

Feeling very sore this morning. I got wiped out by another rider 3.6 km into yesterdays Gran Fondo. There were about two thousand riders and the starting line up was about a kilometer long. Very soon into the race there was a short hillclimb followed by a descent. On the brakes at 35 kph on the descent and the woman rider on my right jinxed hard (to avoid a guy on her right) and slammed intome taking us both down. I hit my head hard and was knocked out. I have cracked ribs, road rash, shredded clothes and a cracked helmet. My bike survived with scratches but the ladys who hit me didnt. She got a buckled front wheel. I think that she came off better than me though. My team mates sat me in the road for half a minute with bikes swarming round me, then got me to the side. I have no recollection of anything after being hit. The first thing I remember is clipping in and saying lets go, lets go. After the fruitless protestations of my buddies we got going again. At first I had colour blotches in my vision and couldnt remember where I was but after a few km my head cleared. We finished the whole 160 km. After the ride was over (and wed had the post ride bbq, beers and dip in the lake to cool off I went for xrays and a checkup. It seems that Im in one piece, I have rib lesions, whatever that is, some impressive road rash, an enormous black hematoma on my hip, scrapes on my arm, leg, shoulder, and back. The worst though is my ribs. Every breath on the ride caused stabbing pain and now Im unable to move without extreme pain. So lying in bed looking at my ceiling fan wondering how Im going to pee... lol Anyone got a bottle? :)
