Fela Aromolaran: Fela Aromolaran started his career as a Trainee Geophysicist with the NNPC in 1984 during his National Service. He joined Seiscom Delta International (United Geophysical) as a Seismologist in 1985 and proceeded to work on various seismic field crews in Nigeria till 1988 when he moved to England where he worked briefly for the same company in data processing before joining GEOCON to work as a QC-Geophysicist on Offshore seismic crews in the North Sea (UK), Middle East and South America. In 1990, Fela joined the Borehole Seismic Services division of Western Geophysical (later Western Atlas, Baker Hughes). He worked in various roles till he left the company in 1999 as Geoscience Manager in Milan Italy. Fela joined Concept Systems in Edinburgh in 2000 and moved on to International Logging in 2002 in Milan where he focused on the commercialization of Seisbit. In 2006, after 22 years in the industry, he founded Energy Domain Ltd, a Geoscience Consultancy business to focus on providing Integrated Exploration and Technology Services to the Petroleum, Minerals and Ground Water exploration industries in Africa. Operating from Tunisia, the business serviced operators in North Africa and executed special projects in East Africa for the African Development Bank. He put the business on hold after 5 years to work for Weatherford as Regional Geophysicist; leading the development of specialty borehole seismic services across the Eastern Hemisphere operations with projects on Microseismic monitoring in unconventional resource plays such as Shale-Gas (in Europe), tight gas (in Siberia) and Coal bed Methane – CBM in Indonesia. Felas experience as a Geophysicist spans a broad spectrum of seismic data acquisition, QC/QA, field processing (on and offshore, world-wide), well log data processing and management of special projects on reservoir characterization, Crosswell or connectivity mapping, Seismic-While-Drilling for Geosteering and Pore Pressure Prediction as well as Microseismic Monitoring. Having acquired a good knowledge of operational, commercial, contractual and regulatory issues Fela currently leads the development and mentoring of Technical, Management and Business Development personnel in EDL, the Consultancy which he revived in 2013 with headquarters in Bucharest Romania - strategically positioned for the emerging Unconventional resource exploration in Eastern Europe. Fela is an active member of the PESGB, EAGE and SEG where he sits and has chaired multiple committees. He has been the Africa Region Coordinator of SEGs Global Affairs Committee(GAC)for the last 7 years. Fela holds a B.Sc degree in Applied Geophysics and M.Sc in Information Technology. He believes in life-long learning and currently teaches the only Borehole Seismic module of the MSc Geophysics class at the University of Bucharest where he is also pursuing PhD degree in Hydrogeophysics.
