Felicitation ceremony - SHRI ARUN JAITLEY Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), one of the most premier institutes in commerce and business, hosts various intellectual sessions by eminent and august personalities. One such event that recently took place on 21st August was the felicitation ceremony of the Finance and Defence minister of the country - SHRI ARUN JAITLEY. Mr. Jaitley being an alumnus of the college, this event was sort of a home coming ceremony. Although, Mr. Jaitley has addressed SRCC quite a few times before, but this event was all the more special as SRCC felt an immense honour in felicitating its alumni who now holds three key positions of Finance, Defence And Corporate Affairs in the Ministry. The ceremony took place in the sports complex which easily accommodated the huge crowd of about 500 spectators. While the undergraduate students were allotted seats as in the stadium, teachers, non teaching staff, post graduate students and the foreign exchange students were allotted round tables, meticulously arranged near the stage which seated our guest of honour Mr.Jaitley, Principal Mr P.C Jain and College Chairman Mr. Ajay Shriram. The programme started at 1 PM, with the welcome of Mr. Jaitley by the honourable principal P.C Jain and the Chairman Ajay Shriram. It was followed by a short speech on the achievements and work done by Mr. Jaitley, both for the nation as well as for the college(being an active member of alumni committee), over the years. The speech, which included several anecdotes by Mr. Shriram (an old acquaintance of Mr. Jailtley), kept the audience spell bound. Later, Mr. Jaitley , with his humble demeanor, shared his vision about the country. Being an active member of SRCCs governing body for the past 15 years, Mr. Jaitley is credited with the dramatic transformation of the college over the past few years and he also further shared his plans and ambitions towards taking SRCC too even greater heights. Being the students of global business management, the session was very insightful for us. Listening to the speech from some one of the stature and intellect of that of Mr.Jaitley was awe inspiring, as it gave us a firsthand experience from the point of view of a person who heads the Finance and Corporate Affairs of the country, the two departments on which country’s progress heavily depends. In totality, with such eminent personalities as guests, a diversified audience and top notch media channels present , all under one roof, this was an event which inspired students to achieve the unthinkable and shine forth like SRCC’s eminent alumni.
