Fellow Drivers, Uber has been offering Drivers the opportunity to return their Uber phones and instead download the Driver App on their personal phones. They claim that Many partners have already traded in their Uber device and are saving more than $500 per year in data fees. This is a false claim because after downloading that App on your personal phone, youll have to make sure that you have unlimited data with your phones plan (which can cost easily $30-$40 extra per month with providers like T-Mobile). Therefore, you wouldnt be saving anything in reality. Secondly, you risk having your phone overheating and also, possibly, not being able to use any other companys App at the same time as Ubers (keyword: possibly). Last, but definitely MOST IMPORTANT, you risk Uber phishing your personal data from your phone (see the attached article). Were already quite vulnerable with Uber as theyve proven themselves untrustworthy to us Drivers & the general public at large, by downloading that App on our personal phones, we become even more so vulnerable. We are not telling you not to return your Uber phone and have the App on your perosnal phone, we are simply highlighting the issues & risks associated with doing so, and also clarifying for you that it does NOT mean that youll be saving money ($500 per year as they claim) by doing so. Please read the attached article and do further research of your own before taking any action on the matter. However, do NOT trust a company who has proven itself careless about you and untrustworthy, therefore let us be VERY careful. And please spread the word to everyone you know. However, we can either help him & co. achieve that goal by making them bigger & richer, or we can take our manpower elsewhere where we can feel secure with our jobs & appreciated (There are other companies out there who would love to have us).
