Fellow Missionites, Regardless of what side of the strike you - TopicsExpress

Fellow Missionites, Regardless of what side of the strike you stand on, I wanted to share the reply a colleague of mine received from our local MLA Marc DAlton. While I can respect his point of view and recognize he is following party lines, what bothers me is the tone to his response. This man doesnt respect my family, does he respect yours? Here is the response she received: Yikes! So after I sent ANOTHER reply to my automated reply from Marc Dalton asking for someone to respond to the points I asked and NOT send me an auto reply, Marc Dalton himself responded: Hello Andrea. I did see your letter to the editor as you have sent me below. Here’s a perspective: if that’s all the parents can afford, than that’s all they can afford. I assume most parents care about their children. Point of the matter, Andrea, is that the government only has so much fiscal room. We made a commitment not to go into debt. The government is not prepared to jeopardize its fiscal health and promises made in the election during these negotiations. Furthermore, agreements have been reached with 150,000 other public sector workers without job action. I think the BCTF needs to look into the mirror and see that the demands are unreasonable in comparison to what has been negotiated with everyone else. We had hoped that teachers would be back to work this week even if there still was not a settlement. This was turned down by the BCTF leadership who would not allow teachers to vote on this. Regards, Marc Dalton
