Feminist theory reading group, this is for you-- Im re-reading our academic monograph like its a page-turner today (the politics of 5th century Greek burial practices? Say more! I cant get enough!) I think this book is a tour de force. Not that I wont stand for other opinions in discussion-- it will be interesting to see if people outside the Antigone bubble are as impressed with it as I am. I just know that if I had written Bonnie Honigs Antigone, Interrupted, I would then have said, My work here is done. Its definitely the dissertation I would have written in my wildest dreams. What a brilliant mind it took, and how much painstaking interdisciplinary research! And above all-- what fresh eyes on the play! This book, along with a very few others, is my model for what it means to be a scholar. Just thought I would put this on the table. Will try to be open-minded to anyone who has issues with the books many different arguments and approaches tomorrow, as I can also imagine that its possible. amazon/Antigone-Interrupted-Professor-Bonnie-Honig/dp/1107668158
